Allied Health Assistants

Our allied health assistants and therapy assistants support the delivery and practice of your allied health therapy program.

Only a qualified allied health professional can conduct assessments, design and develop therapy programs and deliver specialised treatment or therapeutic interventions. However, the Australian Physiotherapy Association, Occupational Therapy Australia, Speech Pathology Australia and the NDIS all support the involvement of Allied Health Assistants to support the delivery of therapy where recommended by an allied health professional.

Implementing plans

Our Allied Health Assistants are skilled in implementing plans developed by our Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech Pathologists and engage in a variety of settings with people with different conditions.

Icaria Health Allied Health Assistants are all Level 2 Therapy Assistants and complement the role and services delivered by allied health professionals, by under delegation independently undertaking some of the duties that require less developed skills

If you are interested in utilising an Allied Health Assistant, please discuss this with your therapist, to determine if it is appropriate for you.
