Icaria Health employs Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech Pathologists and Dietitians who specialise in delivering therapeutic supports through the NDIS. They are able to assist you in working towards the achievement of you NDIS plan goals.
Across Australia, The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) has now commenced in various sites, including from July 1 2017 In Southern NSW and From October 1 2017 in North East Victoria. This is a different way of providing support to individuals and families living with disability, where the individual/ family has choice, control and flexibility around accessing supports. Funding, where required, is provided to individuals (‘individualised funding’) rather than to organisations (‘block funding’).
Developing an Individualised Plan is central to the NDIS process and will be one of the first things undertaken with the assistance of a planner. This plan is then used to determine what sorts of supports you might require and whether there are any funded supports as part of that plan. Allied Health Therapies must be considered as part of this funded support.
Icaria Health is a registered service provider under the NDIS in NSW and Victoria, this means that you can choose to access our Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology and Dietetic services for therapy support. Families can also ask to have our therapists involved in the development of your Individual Plan to help ensure it captures all of the support being provided and that it reflects your goals and aspirations.
We are currently registered to provide the following NDIS Supports:
Therapeutic supports are provided to assist participants to apply their functional skills to improve participation and independence in daily activities in areas such as language and communication, personal care, mobility and movement, interpersonal interactions and community living. Icaria Health is a home visiting service meaning that our therapists see the participant in their environment which may include the home, workplace, school, day program, or other individually appropriate setting.
Home Modification Design and Construction
This registration group incorporates design and subsequent changes to the participant’s home. Home modification design and construction includes installation of equipment or changes to building structures, fixture or fittings to enable participants to live as independently as possible or to live safely at home. Icaria Health therapists have extensive experience in home modification assessment and design. We work in partnership with builders to ensure that any modifications reflect the functional needs of participants within the NDIS Reasonable and Necessary Guidelines (section 34) of the NDIS Act.
Assistive Technology and Equipment
In addition to enabling participants to be independent or participate more fully in daily activities, assistive technology may reduce the need for assistance, make assistance safe and sustainable, and prevent or slow the development of further impairment. Assistive technology ranges in complexity. Icaria Health therapists facilitate the application process for NDIS funding where appropriate. Our therapists have an excellent relationship with local suppliers who can readily trial and sell standard disability/medical supplies. This allows us to work with participants and the suppliers to seek the most appropriate equipment for each individual.
Early Intervention Supports for Early Childhood
Icaria Health is a registered provider for Early Intervention Supports for Early Childhood in NSW. We are currently undertaking the review of our compliance with the Victorian Early Childhood Intervention Standards 2016.
All NDIS services are charged at the rates outlined in the 2017-18 NDIS Price Guide. A Service Agreement will always be created with the Individual Participant, or their nominated representative, outlining the services to be provided. All supports that are being provided to/for the individual will be invoiced against their plan and can be reviewed at any time.
Icaria Health provides all our services in the home or community. There are no additional costs for this home-visiting service. However, in instances of out-reach services, provider’s can claim travel time at the hourly rate for the relevant support item for travel in excess of 10km, up to a maximum annual limit of $1000 per participant. This is specified within the NDIS schedule and is calculated using the formula: (Total kms – 10kms) / 60) We always endeavour to reduce costs by scheduling clients in the same area each day as we would rather utilise allocated funds to provide therapeutic input.
**Please note that any contact with our administration team, simple referral intake, contact with financial intermediaries, do not attract charges**
